It’s Friday again, and that means one thing – it’s time for this week’s 10Trax, new music and new videos! We’ve rounded up all our favourite releases from the past seven days, including new ones from Jacob Banks, Shift K3Y and Kendrick Lamar. This week’s 10Trax is full amazing tunes and it has something for everyone. So wind down from a busy week and enjoy what we have in store for you!
Shift K3Y – ‘Crying In My Sleep’
From his mega hit that was ‘Touch’ British DJ/ singer-songwriter Shift K3Y is back with a new track from his ‘Off The Record’ project. He plans to release a song every two weeks from now, and we can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve! ‘Crying In My Sleep’ was co-written with Andrea Martin who features, and this tune is super catchy.
ROSEAU – ‘Alright’
The lovely ROSEAU was featured in our music spotlight earlier this week, and we cannot get enough of her tracks. She has such a fresh, unique tone to her voice that’s hard not love. Tipped by Shura and having toured with Lianne La Havas in the past, ROSEAU (Kerry Leatham) is sure to be doing big things later on in the year. Her debut album Salt is due for release on September 18.
Jacob Banks – ‘All Mine’
British singer-songwriter Jacob Banks is back with new music (woohoo!). He was the first unsigned artist to ever appear on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and has featured on numerous tracks such as ‘Alive’ with Chase & Status and ‘Doing Okay’ with Wretch 32. His new EP Paradox was created entirely by himself; from the mixing to the mastering, demonstrating he is a force to be reckoned with. The EP has so many quality tunes it was hard to pick one, but ‘All Mine’ is such a feel good, mellow track; it’s super catchy, soulful and it has an epic baseline, which could do with a real blast through some speakers.
Kendrick Lamar – ‘Alright’
Produced by Pharrell and Soundwave, this track from Kendrick’s To Pimp a Butterfly album is upbeat and addictive. Kendrick speaks about his and other people’s common troubles which they can essentially ignore, as they have comfort in knowing that in the end, everything will indeed be alright. The video, directed by Colin Tilley, is beautifully shot in black and white, and it takes you on a journey through Kendrick’s incredible mind.
Disclosure Feat. Sam Smith – ‘Omen’
The British part-electro, part-soul power trio are back! Who wouldn’t want another Disclosure and Sam Smith collaboration? This one takes on a different vibe; more mellow and laidback with a catchy chorus that will have you singing along in no time. The video is futuristic yet sexy, and it’s a clever continuation from Disclosure’s previous single ‘Holding On’. Sam’s soulful vocals along with Disclosure’s non-stop infectious beats make up the perfect recipe for a fantastic track. We can’t wait to see what else Disclosure have in store for their new album CARACAL.
Kwabs – ‘Forgiven’
We love Kwabs! His voice is so soothing to listen to. This track is one of the more lo-tempo songs on this week’s playlist, but his heartfelt vocals couldn’t be passed up. He has a new album due for release on September 11 called Love & War, so we cannot wait to hear what gems are on there. He is also featuring on Disclosure’s new album CARACAL.
Sinead Harnett – ‘Do It Anyway’
The lovely Sinead Harnett has unleashed some new solo music, and we love her new look and sound. From appearing on tracks such as Disclosure’s ‘Boiling’ and Rudimental’s ‘Baby’ alongside MNEK, Sinead has comfortably found her own house, trap-inspired sound. This record is full of good vibes with the trumpets reminding us of Rudimental’s signature sound.
Jess Glynne – ‘Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself’
This track is yet another winner. A catchy chorus teamed with her powerful voice; it’s a lovely summer track to keep you in high spirits. Be sure to check out her Notion mood board where she shared some musical highlights of her career, including filming the video for this track. Her debut album I Cry When I Laugh is due to released on August 21.
Alfa Mist – ‘Dreams’
This track is beautiful. Calm, laid back and soothing, Alfa Mists’ beats are indeed dreamy. The East London producer takes inspiration from jazz, classical and hip-hop and his latest EP Nocturne displays just that. We think he’s one to watch, so keep an eye out for him!
James Blake – ‘Limit To Your Love’ (Cazzette Bootleg)
Cazzette featured on Notion this week when they gave us a mood board of all the things they have done so far in their career that they’ve been proud of and enjoyed. It was only right to have one of their tracks on our playlist this week! This song is their remix of James Blake’s single ‘Limit To Your Love’. We hope to hear more from James Blake soon, but you can listen to Cazzette’s latest release ‘Together‘.
