Grammy Awards

Among the list of nominees for this year’s Grammy Awards, including heavy-hitters The Weeknd, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, Notion has put together a mixtape of all the British artists flying the flag for us this year including Jamie XX, James Bay and Lianne La Havas.

Ed Sheeran – ‘Thinking Out Loud’

Ed Sheeran has been nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’ this year alongside Taylor Swift, The Weekend and Wiz Khalifa. This is one of our favourites from Sheeran; the video in itself is lovely and instantly brings on a sense of nostalgia.

Mark Ronson Feat. Bruno Mars – ‘Uptown Funk’

Mark Ronson has also been nominated in the ‘Record of the Year’ category for his infectious track with Bruno Mars. This song topped the charts for weeks on end, and there’s no doubt that you know every word of this, so sing along. It’s got over a billion views on YouTube…cer-razy.

James Bay – ‘Chaos & The Calm’

James Bay with the oh so angelic voice has been nominated for the ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Rock Album’ categories this year. With hits such as ‘Hold Back The River’ and ‘Let it Go’ which dominated the charts and playlists this summer, he’s had an exceptional year!

Florence + The Machine – ‘Ship To Wreck’

Florence + The Machine are nominated in three categories this year; ‘Pop/Duo Group Performance’, ‘Best Rock Performance’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ with How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. It’s an awesome album, Florence, and we hope you win!

Chemical Brothers – ‘Go’

The Chemical Brothers have been nominated for two categories this year, one being for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Album’, showing they’ve still got it, twenty (yes, twenty) years since the release of Exit Planet Dust.

Wolf Alice – ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’

The London four-piece are up for a Grammy for this 90’s grungy, alternative track.

Lianne La Havas – ‘Blood’

Singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas is nominated for ‘Best Urban Contemporary Album’ this year and what an album it is! ‘Blood’ is full of sweet, dreamy numbers, with stunning vocals. For what more could you ask?

Jamie xx – ‘In Colour’

The wonderful Jamie xx with his moody floor fillers, vocal sampling and euphoric moments is nominated for best Dance/ Electronic album for In Colour – and so it should be. ‘In Colour’ is a great album.

Disclosure – ‘Caracal’

Disclosure! They’ve been nominated for ‘Best Dance / Electronic Album’ alongside Jamie XX, proving that Brits do it better when it comes to dance music.  With collaborations from Lorde, The Weeknd, Lion Babe and Sam Smith on Caracal and so many great hits, its nomination was not a surprise.

Ellie Goulding – ‘Love Me Like You Do’

Ellie has been nominated in the ‘Pop Solo Performance’ category for this track. It’s proper pop at its finest. Good luck Ellie!
