It’s been another landmark year for grime. Any doubts about the scene’s vitality have been laid to rest over the last 12 months as the likes of Boy Better Know, Stormzy and Skepta have made headlines and cemented themselves as national icons. However, there’s plenty of grime that’s flown under the radar this year as well. To round off the year, we got NTS Radio’s resident grime expert, A.G to highlight her most underrated grime tunes of the year.

Nikki S and Nyke – ‘SKA 2’

“Ska Riddim will always be a legendary all-star & Nikki S & Nyke brought it back with some old skool favourites plus some newer talent. They upped the levels with this video! This was definitely not shot on a micro-budget like the first.”

XXXTENTACION – ‘Look At Me (Massappeals Refix ft. Snowy)’

“I’ve never heard the original version but Massappeals makes this a hit with Nottingham’s finest Snowy completely smashing this.”

Lioness – ‘Everything Mad’

“We all wanted Lioness to return to grime & for her to return to Jammz’ iconic ‘Keep It Simple’ made it worth the wait.”

Jammz – Who’s ‘That Girl’

“With a video & vibe paying homage to Dizzee Rascal’s “I Luv U”, Jammz gave us the singalong banger we all needed.”

Rocks FOE – ‘Fight The Good?’

“This toes the line between Grime and hip hop but this was one of the sickest tunes 2017 had to offer & deserved a video!”

Roadside G’s – ‘U Aint Bad’

“Diggerz and Den Den gave us a new RSG’s hit for the roads & if I went to the gym this would be on my gym playlist. Gains!!”

Esco ft. Skepta, D Double E & Chronik – ‘2 Cars’

“Money Beats & Skitz Beatz came through on production for a complete anthem with an all-star line up including the late great Esco Big Bars on the hook, RIP!”

Manga Saint Hilare x GHSTLY XXVII – ‘Back To Back’

“Wait there! Manga & GHS go b2b straight from the top on this sick Mistakay beat, shelling like it’s radio.”

Armour – ‘War Talk’

“HOT WATER! Actual greaze from the legendary former Nasty Crew member and the song that plays in my mind when people spell my name wrong.”

P Money, & Pharoah – ‘Like Dem Man ft. Hyde’

“Pharaoh, P Money & Novelist on the production! This was also the first appearance of Hyde and we all know how the rest of the year went after this.”

A,G plays Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival 3rd – 6th May 2018 in Malta,  tickets can be brought here.
