Here’s another 10Trax with the best new releases and tracks you should be listening to at the moment. We have a fairly low-tempo collection of songs this week, which we thought would be perfect to ease you into your working week, including tracks by Aurora, Honne and Tom Misch.
Valley Maker – ‘Only Friend’
South Carolina multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Austin Crane, is the force behind Valley Maker. ‘Only Friend’ revolves around his Southern upbringing and his faith and is full of steady acoustic guitars which make this track properly soothing. His vocals complement those of Amy Godwin’s, and the two voices produce an intense sound. The video, directed by Joseph Kolean, also has some wonderful visual aids that complement the vocals. ‘Only Friend’ is off Valley Maker’s debut album ‘When I Was a Child’ due for release on September 25 and available to pre-order now.
Nick Brewer Feat. Bibi Bourelly & Frisco – ‘Talk To Me’ (Rude Kid Remix)
We can’t get enough of Nick Brewer. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, this happens! This remix is grime-infused, which offers a nice spin from the original ‘Talk to Me‘ track. With more bass, the addition of vocals from BBK’s Frisco and revamped verses with an insane flow from Nick himself, this is nothing but a wicked track.
Diplo & Sleepy Tom – ‘Be Right There’
We’re loving the number of house remixes that classic RnB tunes are getting nowadays. This one is the latest from Diplo, and he’s teamed up with Canadian DJ/ Producer Sleepy Tom to produce this foot-stomping track. There is no way you can resist from moving or singing along to this (trust us- we’ve tried!). Sampling Jade’s classic of ‘Don’t Walk Away‘ this is sure to be a massive club hit soon enough.
Zak Abel – ‘Say Sumthin’
Zak Abel really is something right? From ‘Wise Enough‘, his mega hit with Joker, there has been no stopping him. ‘Say Sumthin’ is also produced by man of the moment Kaytranada, who has remixed the songs of MNEK, Chet Faker and Pharrell to name a few. Zak’s voice shines through on this track, along with the upbeat, feel-good melody. Catch him playing tonight at Oslo in Hackney.
Tom Misch Feat. Jordan Rakei – ‘Wake Up This Day’
Singer-songwriter, violinist, composer, guitarist…is there anything Tom Misch can’t do? At only 20, he has accomplished a lot and worked with a bunch of talented artists, such as Alfa Mist and Sam Wills. This track is of his ‘Beat 2’ EP that you must check out! Mellow, soothing and seductive, with accompanying vocals from Jordan Rakei, this song is gorgeous.
Catz ‘n Dogz Feat. Tanika – ‘Get it Right’
We really love this track from Catz ‘n Dogz at the moment. Not only is the video fun and frankly, hilarious, but the track is so unbelievably catchy. The added vocals from Tanika add to the infectious beat. We caught up with the director of this video last week to find about what inspired some of the visuals – take a look.
HONNE – ‘Over Lover’ EP
The electronic soul duo HONNE have recently released their new EP Over Lover. They received the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ for the EPs leading track ‘Loves The Jobs You Hate’ (one of our favourites) on BBC Radio 1 and rightly so. Andy and James’ EP as a whole is relaxed and easy-going and exactly what you’d expect from the duo.
Pink Film – ‘Trouble’
London quartet Pink Film is made up of Ziyad, Frank, Laurence, and Danny. ‘Trouble’ is full of lots of energy and quality harmonies. Supporting the likes of Spring King and Hinds, they have played Great Escape Festival & Liverpool Sound City earlier this summer and are sure to rock your world.
Aurora – ‘Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)’
19-year-old Norwegian beauty Aurora’s sound can be described producing electro-pop that has a spine-tingling feel. Her vocals are exciting from the very start, and her strength in storytelling shines through. Aurora has a ready racked up a whopping 16.5 million plays on Spotify and counts Huw Stephens as a fan. Her show at the Hoxton Bar and Grill on September 18 has already sold out, but her album is expected to be released early next year, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Disclosure Feat. Kwabs – ‘Will & Able’
The Disclosure boys always know how to get you dancing, don’t they? From their earlier releases from their new album ‘Omen’ and ‘Holding On’, they have struck again with this banger featuring Kwabs. This track is much slower and laid-back than the previous two; Kwabs’ blissful vocals add to Disclosure’s iconic and infectious beats making for an easy listen. Just imagine listening to this while sipping a pina colada by the beach. With albums due out this month for both artists, we cannot wait to hear what else they’ve got to offer.
