Anderson .Paak is a true showman. Along with the legendary Grace Jones, he’s one of the few artists I’ve seen that can really lift the mood of as soaking wet festival audience even when the raining is pelting the stage. Well, his headline performance at Brixton’s 02, he really brought the heat – especially when he brought on Dr Dre as a surprise performance of ‘Still D.R.E’ and ‘The Next Episode’.

Opening with ‘Come Down’ with his band The Free Nationals, he told the crowd that it was his first time in Brixton, “This is where black folk hang out, I love it, man.” Dre soon joined him onstage before declaring that Anderson .Paak was “destined for stardom.”  .Paak went on to perform a mellow version of ‘GLOWED UP’, as well as ‘The Bird’, ‘Heart Don’t Stand a Chance’, ‘Am I Wrong’ and ‘Lite Weight’ and others. At various points, he took a seat at the drum kit set in the centre of the stage and played along with his band, the set created to look like an open mouth. He also added that he was just finishing a new album, “it’s fire, too.”
