It seems electronic duo Aquilo are starting the year as they mean to go on, announcing today they will be releasing a series of videos in the run up to the release of their debut album, Silhouettes on January 27th. Once again, they team up with long-time collaborator and award-winning director Eoin Glaister, who has helped translate the duo’s emotive, poignant music into stunning visual format on tracks such as ‘I Gave it All’ and ‘Losing You’. Aquilo have undoubtedly made a name for themselves not only for their compelling music but with their collaborations on their videos, which, while keeping themselves mysterious, take their storytelling to new heights.

Today they provide their first film of 2017, ‘You Won’t Know Where You Stand’, a coming of age film starring This is England‘s Perry Benson. The actor plays a concerned father of a promising young ice skater played by Emily Reid, who struggles to keep her focus on her craft when she meets football coach Ruairi O’Connor. The narrative of the film echoes the tension heard in the song’s lyrics, reflecting the idea of growth, of change, and ultimately, not knowing where you stand. The conclusion of this first film, much like the track itself, is bittersweet and leaves you wondering if the next film will continue this same narrative.
