Beth Ditto, formerly of mid-2000s indie icons The Gossip, has announced her debut solo album. Titled Fake Sugar, the album is set for release on June 16th via Virgin Records and is set to draw on Ditto’s southern roots. Announcing the album on Mista Jam’s Radio 1 show last night, Ditto also shared a new single titled ‘Fire’. A bluesy, slow-building track, ‘Fire’ brings Ditto’s vast vocal range back into the forefront, descending into garagey, synth-tinged chaos as the track closes. It’s like 2007 all over again.
