It’s the one year anniversary of Beyoncé’s seminal audio-visual album Lemonade and to mark the occasion the multi-grammy award winning singer has announced a series of scholarships for women in the United States studying or hoping to study creative arts, music, literature or African American studies.
Positions will be available at Howard University, Spelman, Berklee College of Music and Parsons School of Design. Four scholarships will be awarded, one per participating university. The first scholarships will be awarded for the 2017-18 academic year and are designed to ‘encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.’ The news was announced by the activist Deray McKesson on Twitter earlier today.
