The early summer weather might be over for the moment but those warm nights now have a soundtrack in the form of Dakota and Not3s‘ ‘Sober’. A moody R&B track with hints of tropical pop it’s a single custom built for sleepless summer nights. ‘Sober’ sees Dakota searching for clarity in a relationship, unsure of her status and longing to speak to her partner. She’s joined by Not3s who comes through with a boozy verse packed with drink-related metaphors.
Today Dakota is premiering the video for the track on Notion. Set in a sleek hotel room, it sees Dakota dressed in lavish jewellery waiting for her partner, bathing and eventually reuniting with him for a tense final scene. Speaking about the video Dakota said “I had so much fun shooting this video, we filmed it in east London around the corner from where I actually first wrote and recorded the track. I wanted the video to really portray the mood and soul of the song and what it was really all about, which I think we managed to capture. I wanted it to be interesting visually too. This was the first script I read and it instantly drew me in. ‘Sober’ is about really just wanting to let go, lose your inhibitions and tell someone how you really feel with complete clarity.” Watch the video for ‘Sober’ below.
