We all know the benefits of a balanced lifestyle but maintaining one can sometimes be a different story. It can be hard to squeeze in a gym session sometimes, but the advantages of taking a little time to unwind and relax can be very rewarding to your overall health. It’s a reason why so many people are now looking for forms of exercise, like Yoga and Pilates, to calm the mind as well as get their heart racing. Helping you get your stretch on and your stress levels down, Danone Light & Free and Broadly have teamed up for their ‘Hit Girls’ series which look at the new and novel forms of exercise. They’ve taken over Kamio in Shoreditch to run a series of free health-sessions run by top fitness and wellbeing gurus, and the best part is you can get involved in the action for free.
Just off the hustle and bustle of Old Street, the new exhibition space Kamio has been recently transformed into a tranquil exercise studio with a garden terrace. Running every Tuesday in July will be classes picked with the busy city dweller in mind. Conveniently running during lunch hours and before work, the classes aim to get you to try new forms of fitness, as well as relieve yourself of any mid-week stresses.
Next week it’s Andy Kobelinsky’s class, Studio 54 Yoga, which is far from any yoga class you may have experienced before. Studio 54 classes, focusing on breath and body alignment, combine yoga moves with dancing, soundtracked by the smooth sounds of classic disco. Aiming to shake up the traditional form of yoga and leave you feeling uplifted, you’re even encouraged to wear your bright spandex. The session next week runs from 12.30-1.30pm and refreshments are served after the class. You’ll even get to sample some of Danone’s new Light & Free range of yoghurts which are super tasty and contain zero percent fat or added sugar. Yum!
