There’s a particularly clean take on pop coming out of Scandinavia at the moment. Led by the likes of Sigrid, MØ and Tove Styrke it’s a balancing act between R&B vocals and precisely produced electronic instrumentals; a reduction of the often over the top pop of the UK and US. The latest purveyor of this icy form of pop is Denmark’s Ea Kaya. Having dropped her first track ‘Remedy’ back in February this year today she returns with new single ‘Tied Up’.
Premiering the video on Notion, ‘Tied Up’ sees Kaya taking on a relationship that’s moving too fast, singing “you’re one step forward, so take one step back from me”. The accompanying video sees Kaya trying to resist the advances of her potential beau, bouncing him off a stack of mattresses and performing the track alone in a number of sets only for him to reappear time and time again.
