London’s Afroswing scene is on top of the world right now. From J Hus selling out his headline tour to the likes of Not3s taking the genre into the top 40, it seems like nothing can stop the sounds of the UK’s African diaspora from taking over. It makes perfect sense then that when SoundCloud came to London for the latest episode of their Next Wave documentary, this would be the scene they chose to profile.

In just under ten minutes some of the scene’s biggest players and pioneers break down how it came to be and the influence it’s beginning to have outside of the UK. Touring the city with Belly Squad, Yxng Bane and Naira Marley the documentary profiles the artists on their home turf, with DJ and artist Afro B acting as a guide through the ends. An intimate look at the artists behind the phenomena as well as a good primer for anyone hoping to get into the scene SoundCloud Next Wave: Different Settings makes a strong case for Afroswing as the future of UK music.
