Back in September XamVolo dropped the bombastic ‘Feels Good’. A lively jazz-funk jam, the track showcased Xam’s flair for the original and garnered the upstart singer comparisons to the likes of D’Angelo. In short, it was a jam. Now it’s been given the remix treatment courtesy of Freddie Joachim, the producer behind some of J.Cole and JoeyBada$$’s best beats.
Premiering on Notion today, Joachim’s rework takes the track in a smoother, wavier direction, emphasising’s Xam’s vocal and swapping the bombastic instrumental for a hip-hop and RnB inspired beat. Freddie also gifts the track with a feature from St.Louis singer Jaylien adding to the slow jam vibe he’s conjured out of the original track. While it’s definitely a different vibe, Freddie has managed to retain a sense of the original’s feel-good attitude. Speaking about the remix Freddie said: “It’s been a pleasure working with XamVolo. We created some great music in the studio together. The remix I produced of ‘Feels Good’ is a wavy departure from the original. I wanted to go the opposite direction with it, but still capture the ‘feel good’ vibe. And Jaylien on the remix is icing on the cake.” Listen to the track below.
