There aren’t many French bands that make it across the channel, with the exception of Daft Punk and Phoenix, few acts manage to translate their Continental hype into UK success. Her are set to defy that tradition, exploding onto the scene late last year with their Her Tape No1, a seductive blend of staccato guitars and delicate falsetto vocals. Lo-fi, psychedelic nods add another dimension to their music, mystifying their sultry sound. The group, led by Victor Solf and Simon Carpentier, are building a reputation fast and their French groove is only set to expand further afield with the release of ‘Live Tape #01’ on Thursday.
This was the first Her video – image is very important to us and we had the chance to co-write the synopsis with French director Raphael Frydman.
Our first proper show was actually in front of 3000 people and we had a blast.
Our favorite press pic was taken with a disposable camera during Five minutes video shooting.
This photo is from our second headline show in London, it was a very special moment. Playing in the UK was a dream itself but then doing our headline show sold out without having a record label or an album out was the best. We thank Josh from Girls & Boys booking for making it happen…twice.
This is our first acoustic session in Philippe Zdar’s (one half of Cassius) studio.
We are very involved in every aspects of our project and kind of end up being friends with every good people we work with. It’s definitely the case with Lisway who directed this video and Marine the actress. We can even tell you that they will both be involved in the shooting of our next video out in June…
This is where we recorded our Sam Cooke cover and all of the songs taken from our Live Tape. We like the idea of sharing different versions of our songs and as unreachable as he is, Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered project is something we look up to.
This song means a lot to us and it feels special that our cover is charting in Hypemachine’s Top 5 popular songs.
