Pray For Me

Not content with releasing one of the best albums of last year and scooping up four Grammys in the process, Kendrick Lamar has been busy putting together the soundtrack for Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film. We’ve already been graced with a handful of singles from the project and now, having revealed the full tracklist earlier this week, Kendrick has shared his own original contribution to the soundtrack, a much-anticipated collaboration with The Weeknd, ‘Pray For Me’.

A stripped back beat serves as the backing for Kendrick and Abel to swap verses with swells of cinematic strings coming in under The Weeknd-led chorus. Lyrically it’s your standard superhero-movie soundtrack fare with lines about sacrifice and “mass destruction and mass corruption”. The Black Panther OST is out next Friday and features music from Future, Vince Staples, SZA, Jay Rock, James Blake, Anderson .Paak and more. Black Panther hits UK cinemas February 12th. Listen to ‘Pray For Me’ below.
