Earlier this year we introduced you to the Copenhagen born electronic artist KING with her video for ‘Hello Hello‘, a track that showcased her penchant for hip hop and hyper, almost dizzying electronica.
The former dancer has spent the last few months holed up in LA and Sweden, working on more material, and from the sound of the new track, the video of which is premiering today, her hard work has paid off. Working with Peter Yushichi St James and Christian Nilsson, the latest cut ‘Only U’ was reportedly KING’s most difficult track to complete. “Christian and James made me do everything over and over again because they wanted it to be perfect,” she says. “I’m really proud of this track: the sound, my tone and the lyrics. If a song could be perfect, then this is the one.”
The track begins in the typically KING style – dark and seductive – before launching into a pulsing, driving synths and a proper pop chorus. The melody is infectious, addictive even, but the song still keeps the ambient, warped production that KING’s become known for, while her voice ties the whole thing together. It’s part MØ, part AlunaGeorge, 100% on repeat.
The video was filmed in Berlin and follows KING and two hooded women on a quest to track something down. Watch below.
