Berghain has played host to plenty of icons in its time. From Marcel Dettman to Ben Klock, the infamous Berlin nightclub has been graced by plenty of big names. This March however, Berghain will welcome an entirely different sort of musical icon in the form of Australian pop queen Kylie Minogue. Yes that’s right, Berghain, a nightclub best known for the fact that it stays open for 48 hours at time, regularly houses kink and sex parties and is guarded by a man with a spiderweb tattooed across the entirety of his face, will host Kylie Minogue, singer of such underground techno anthems as ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ and ‘The Loco-Motion’.
Minogue is set to play Berghain on March 20th as part of a five-date tour of ‘intimate venues’ ahead of the release of her new album Golden. Presumably, she’ll be playing in the Panorama bar then, rather than the notoriously cavernous main room. Minogue will also play Manchester’s Gorilla, London’s Cafe De Paris, Barcelona’s Bikini Club and Paris’ Cafe De La Danse, so it’s safe to say the Berghain is something of an anomaly in her tour diary. Whatever happens on March 20th it’s bound to be a very strange experience for all involved. Tickets for Kylie’s ‘Golden’ tour are available from February 15th.
