Co-founders and girl pals, Maria K Georgian and Rhiannon Butlers, working in collaboration with in-house chef Shaun Whitmore (Head of Berber & Q), saw a chance to taste uncharted waters and bring us all back to school with their new edition of Mam Sham.

Mam Sham is one of London’s coolest supper clubs, an incredibly exciting concept that brings together the two girls’ — and around 90% of the population’s — passions: food and comedy. Each quarterly edition consists of a three-course menu accompanied by three comedy acts, all built around a common theme. In other words: each plate is inspired by the stories of the comedians. They accept most dietary restrictions so veggie friends; you are welcome too!

On a Friday in early August, the theme was ‘Back to School’ and, as a starter, we had some Year 9 Style vegetables served with an egg while The Establishment, a duo who brought in the whole spirit of the headmaster-pupil idea, made us all jump from our seats and feel a little bit grounded. Eshaan Akbar and a roast with all the trimmings came as the main, promising to satisfy your comic cravings as well as your food ones. His hilarious jokes and remarks on making friends at school as well as growing up were, for sure, some out-of-the-box entertainment.

But things were about to get a lot naughtier with BRITNEY, aka comedy duo  Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson, taking to the stage with a meticulously curated show. Committed to putting a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye the pair delivered a lesson on sex education and counselling, accompanied by a banana doughnut with custard and whipped cream for dessert which put an end to an incredible, immersive dinner experience.

In addition to setting tongues wagging and filling stomachs, the show is sure to get you drunk with plenty of school-inspired cocktails to keep you hydrated and refreshed in between lessons; including, mini White Russians served in milk bottles and a voddy version of POPS, as well a Tuck Shop with surprisingly decent wines and beer.

If you are searching for a fun day out in town, complete with awesome food, loads of laughter and the company of your friends as well as a bunch of lovely strangers, make sure you keep an eye on their website and get tickets for the next one!
