Live gallery: Vibrant A-listers captured the spirit of London at Mighty Hoopla

Mighty Hoopla is the festival celebrating queer culture in a time of hatred and discrimination.

There are a lot of threats to the LGBTQ community at the moment. With Trump in office and Brexit looming around the corner, campaigns of hatred have stormed Britain. Refusing to let hate get the better of them, however, are Sink the Pink and the rest of the Mighty Hoopla team. On Sunday, they took over Victoria Park, throwing the biggest, queerest “genderfuck ball” in Britain.

For London’s first ever Mighty Hoopla, the team invited some of pop music’s finest to perform. Amidst a sea of drag queens and rainbow pom pom tents, you could find Years & Years, All Saints, Louisa Johnson and Raye putting on powerful performances. Brush a bit of glitter out of the way, and you could find Notion’s favourites GIRLI and Alma bringing their fluorescent energy to the park.

On top of the music, Mighty Hoopla also provided karaoke bars, food outlets, and a giant ball pit for all of your adult regression needs. In light of everything that’s going on in the world, it’s reassuring to know that Mighty Hoopla is the light, or rainbow rather, at the end of the tunnel. Jack Alexander went behind the scenes to capture the festival’s stars in their element.
