Miley Cyrus is back in her new video for ‘Malibu’, the first single from her as-yet-unnamed upcoming album. The singer has reformed herself after a four-year hiatus following her last album Bangerz which featured tracks “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop”, that were both subject to criticism. The singer seems to have taken this criticism on board and reimagined herself, transforming from the platinum avant-garde Miley to a more stripped down version of herself circa her Hannah Montana days.
However Miley has faced fresh criticism recently for her comments in an interview with Billboard in which she appeared to criticise hip hop artists for promoting misogyny while at the same time having based her post-Hannah Montana persona around the image and sound pioneered by those self-same artists. The new (or should that be old?) stripped down version of Miley can be seen in the video for her new single ‘Malibu’, where Cyrus playfully walks the beaches of Malibu and compliments the floral scenery in the peak of springtime. The more natural and bohemian singer is due to be releasing more music this upcoming year, so keep your eyes peeled. Watch the video for “Malibu” below.
