One of the most exciting DJs to emerge in recent years, Monki has truly her earned her space in the industry, starting her career as a mere tea maker for Rinse FM and working her way up to host shows on both BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra. Considered a tastemaker and a trendsetter, Monki has always championed emerging and underground artists and has used her position to release new tracks from unknown producers on her own label imprint Zoo Music.
Monki, real name Lucy Monkman, has been playing around the UK with her pals as part of the Red Bull Studios hosted UK tour which culminates in an event at The Laundry tomorrow night. Celebrating the 4th edition of her ‘Monki & Friends’ EP, the tour kicked off in Manchester before heading to Bristol and Sheffield. With the last date of the tour tomorrow in Hackney’s trendy music hotspot The Laundry, we asked Monki to share her highlights of the tour so far.
