Kick-starting her own career by confidently introducing herself to Flo Rida whilst at an ESPY Awards after party, Natalie La Rose seems to have that enviable quality that she won’t stop until she achieves what she wants. As a result of her confident approach, she gained herself a meeting with the rapper, and before long she was touring with him as his lead vocalist. Born in Amsterdam, the contemporary RnB singer moved to Miami aged 20 and hasn’t looked back since. This year has undoubtedly been her most successful year yet; in the last 12 months, La Rose’s first single soared to No.2 in the UK charts, she supported The X-Factor USA’s girl-group Fifth Harmony on their summer tour, and is now in the middle of an extensive US tour of her own.
Her anthemic hit single ‘Somebody’ which features a sultry hook from Jeremih, has racked up over 100 million views on YouTube so far and there’s no doubt her more recent tune ‘Around The World’ will be just as popular. Featuring Trap Queen’s Fetty Wap and filmed on a film set outside of Miami, the video showcases La Rose’s immense dance capabilities as she features in several scenes which represent different cultures of the world.

‘Around The World’ Video: Making my video for ‘Around The World’. It was shot about two hours outside of LA on an actual movie set. Each set represented a different culture, and here I’m on the African set. I’m actually dancing on rocks here – painful!
Fifth Harmony Tour: Supporting Fifth Harmony on tour was so much fun; we toured for almost two months. Every day was a different city, we travelled on a tour bus, and some trips could take up to 17 hours! Sometimes the girls would jump on stage during ‘Somebody’ and rock with me. It was a real honour to be on their tour, their fans are super dedicated and they really embraced me.
Arther Ashe Kids Day: This is me, my two dancers Kany and Carley (standing), and my DJ. Before the US Open started, I performed at Arthur Ashe Kids Day, which is a really cool event where tennis players and artists play tennis with kids.
Kids directing ‘Somebody’ video: Future video directors! After the Fifth Harmony tour, I worked with a New York summer programme for kids. With a little help, they wrote a script and directed the new video for my song ‘Somebody’.
Favourite place: I love Las Vegas! I go there a couple of times a year. You never know what’s going to happen there, always some kind of adventure with great people.
Day-off in Cancun: This was taken in Cancun mixing work with a little bit of pleasure. I had a show the night before, so I had the day off to chill, otherwise I would have never jumped in the water and had my hair wet! We canoed all day and saw beautiful dolphins.
Vibing at IMG Miami: At my label IMG’s (Flo Rida’s label) studio in Miami. I had a session with the producer Mannie Fresh; we were picking out beats to write to and vibing out for hours. I’ve been living in Miami for two years now, I moved when I signed to Flo’s label. I live in a really quiet part; I’m not home a lot so when I go back it’s very peaceful.
Selfies at the Latin AMA’s: I recently went to the first Latin AMA’s (American Music Awards) in Hollywood. This was before the awards, taking selfies with the crowd. I was nominated for Best Crossover Act, and I performed a reggaeton version of ‘Somebody’ with Latin singer De La Ghetto and rapper Kevin Roldan, it was like a big party on stage, so much fun!
Exploring Hawaii: Hawaii is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been too. This picture was taken on my day off after a show there. We drove around the island sightseeing – they literally have everything there; clear blue waters, city, mountains, beaches, forests… I wish I could have stayed longer.
