Inspired by the Airborne Forces of World War II, Nigel Cabourn presented his AW17 showcase at London Fashion Week Men’s on Friday 6th January. The showcase consisted of two collections, one entitled ‘Authentic’ and one in the form of a collaboration with Peak Performance entitled ‘The Art of Co Lab’.
‘Authentic’ consists of 27 pieces, drawing influences from the cult uniform of the RAF and their accompanying flight suits, all enveloped in true Cabourn style – redefining classic pieces such as the Cameraman jacket. Notable pieces of the ‘Authentic’ collection include the Drop Zone Sheepskin jacket, complete with hand painted accents on the back to ensure the essence of true WW2 style is retained. This collection includes a range of dystopian camo print, chunky outerwear and sheepskin trimmed jackets paired with woollen turtlenecks and printed overalls. ‘Authentic’ presents pure functionality at it’s most fashionable.
The second collection, created in conjunction with activewear brand Peak Performance for an innovative new sportswear range, complete with archetypal influences of Scandinavian lifestyle and Swedish military styles. Key pieces within ‘The Art of Co Lab’ include waterproof camo fabric outerwear and quilted jackets paired with slouchy ski pants and sturdy platform footwear.
