Beneath the streets of Shoreditch, a party was happening in a candlelit underground forest bar, aptly named The Woods. Notion’s first free music event was launched, with a host of top performers from Notion’s current issue. With an incredible DJ set from our very own Alexis Knox, the party was underway immediately. VITAMIN incorporated a steel drum into their set, creating a tropical atmosphere appreciated fully by all attendees who braved the cold to get to the gig. Our headline act, Tiggs Da Author, did not disappoint, treating those in attendance to a lively and soulful performance and inviting the crowd to join in on his choruses.
New venue, The Woods hosted the evening; its low lighting and leafy woodland themed bar area, adding to the intimate atmosphere and the magical feeling of the whole night. Having only recently opened its doors, The Woods is fast becoming known as one of East London’s best-kept secrets, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Great Eastern Street, situated beneath Red’s True Barbeque. The round seating areas of The Woods, carrying on the Western theme of the restaurant upstairs, are situated within small booths along the edge of the bar, lit by neon artwork and fairy lights hanging from the ceiling. With an excellent spirit and cocktail list, it’s the perfect place for an after work drink, or those seeking an alternative to the usual crowded Shoreditch hangout.
