Rapper and songwriter Lil Peep, real name Gustav Ahr, has passed away aged 21. Known for his fusion of emo and hip-hop, Peep was heralded as a trailblazer for both genres with his confessional lyrics that dealt with drug abuse and depression. He released his debut album Come Over When You’re Sober Part 1 in August this year.
The news broke last night with artists including Lil B, Diplo, Marshmello and more sharing their condolences online. Lil Peep’s manager Chase Ortega tweeted “I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother Fuck.” No cause of death has been released at the time of press, a statement from the late rapper’s team is expected soon.
