UK music is having a real moment right now, seen across the full spectrum of genre, but particularly in the wave of new R&B and soul singers who are cropping up all over. There’s now another artist to keep in your sights of the name JGrrey. The Londoner makes her introduction with her incredibly smooth debut track ‘Ready 2 Die’. It’s a slick, polished sound for a first single, languorous and soulful, and acquainting the world to her delicious vocals.
“‘Ready 2 Die’ was made off the back of a conversation I had with my drummer,” she says, “just a random thought. The idea behind the video was to capture simplicity, a day with me in my city, showing you what I do when I do nothing at all which is my favourite thing to do!”
The track was premiered earlier this week by Jamz on 1Extra and the singer-songwriter gives Notion the first look at the visuals which you can see below. The video follows JGrrey around the city for a day concluding with an official declaration of the name of her first cut.

‘Ready 2 Die’ is out now on Stripes Records.
