Summer is tantalisingly close. The long weekends, the not totally awful weather, being outside for prolonged periods of time and actually enjoying it, all these things are just around the corner. Naturally, we’re hype but if 4/20 hasn’t got you feeling the summer love just yet then may we offer this slice of pure sunshine from Scandi alt-pop masters Simian Ghost. Titled ‘When You’re Ready’ it’s an upbeat, groove-filled track that’ll take you back to innocent summers of indie music festivals and not having worry about whether or not you’ve got your Out Of Office on.

The track was produced by Phoenix’s Thomas Hedlund and is exactly as well put-together as you’d expect from the French mastermind. No surprise as the track was originally written for our current Notion 75 cover-star, Zara Larsson. Simian Ghost’s Sebastian explains: “A couple of years ago we got this idea that we should write a song for Zara Larsson. She wasn’t super famous back then, and we were really digging her latest single. So me and Mathias sat down with a couple of guitars and wrote ‘When You’re Ready’. Then we realised that Zara Larsson wouldn’t want a song from us – so we just did it ourselves instead. It turned out pretty good I think!” Give it a spin below.
