There’s no better showcase for British jazz music than Love Supreme festival. Taking place every summer it places the best of the UK’s jazz talent alongside icons from across the world, bringing together heads, casual fans and a new generation of jazz fanatics. It’s also where Ezra Collective, one of London’s most beloved groups of jazz musicians got their first big break, performing to the largest crowd of their lives at their 2016 debut at the festival. This year they were invited back and to honour the occasion they captured their set on film.
Premiering on Notion today, the clip follows Ezra before their set at the festival segueing into a blistering performance of ‘Space is the Place’ from their latest EP Juan Pablo the Philosopher. Speaking about their time at the festival, bandleader and drummer Femi Koleoso said “Love Supreme jazz festival will always be a close one to our heart. Two years ago it was the first time we ever played to a big audience. To be asked back was an honour, and we gave it everything we had. So much joy and happiness in the tent, we were celebrating a really beautifully joyful year, and thousands joined us in doing so. Definitely a festival season highlight we just had to capture.” Watch the group’s performance below.
