The rise of afroswing has been meteoric. In the space of a year, the genre has gone from grime’s younger cousin to a dominant force in the UK underground and even the charts. One of the scene’s leading lights is Yxng Bane, an East London based singer who blew up last summer with his incredibly catchy debut single ‘Rihanna’ and the fifteen-million-view-topping remix of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’. Next came his joint single with Yungen ‘Bestie’ which sat in the charts for eighteen weeks and is currently on thirty odd million views on YouTube. Since then he’s jumped on features with everyone from Taya to WSTRN and even joined Quavo and Tinie Tempah on Sigma’s single ‘Forever’.

Now he’s back in his own right with ‘Vroom’, an infectious new single out on Disturbing London. Getting his fans warmed up for summer and produced by Team Salut it’s heavy on the steel pan samples and catchy rhythms. The video, filmed at London’s Print Works sees multiple Bane’s working his charm with a group of dancers dubbed Baney’s Angels. It landed on Friday and it’s already well on the way to a million views. It’s a triumphant single that comes ahead of Bane’s headline show at the O2 Academy Islington next Wednesday. Watch/listen to ‘Vroom’ below.
